Goalkeeper glove size guide
Get the fit right.
Your gloves should feel secure and comfortable, with enough room to move your fingers naturally. A snug fit should never feel restrictive.
1. Check the guide for your glove
Sizing can vary between brands and models. Always use the size chart linked to the gloves you are buying. A size in one brand may fit differently in another.
2. Measure both hands
Use the measurement method stated in the product’s size chart. Measure both hands and use the larger measurement as your starting point.
| Measurement | How to take it |
|---|---|
| Palm width | Measure straight across the widest part of your palm, excluding the thumb. Do not wrap the tape around your hand. |
| Hand circumference | Wrap a flexible tape around the widest part of your palm, below the knuckles and excluding the thumb. Keep it snug without squeezing. |
| Hand length | Measure from the base of your palm at the wrist to the tip of your middle finger. Add an allowance only if the model’s guide specifically tells you to. |
These are different measurements. Use only the one required by the relevant chart.
3. Compare with the model’s chart
Match your measurement to the glove’s size chart, then check any model-specific fit notes. Negative and other fitted cuts can feel closer around the fingers; finger protection and wrist construction may also affect the feel.
4. Check the fit before playing
- Your palm should sit securely without sliding around inside the glove.
- Your fingertips should not feel compressed against the ends.
- There should not be so much spare material that the fingers feel floppy.
- You should be able to open your hand and make a comfortable fist.
- The cuff should feel secure and comfortable.
Between sizes?
Check the product’s fit advice before choosing. If you prefer more room, the larger option may suit you, but a glove that is too loose can move around your hand. Contact us if you are unsure.
Buying for a junior goalkeeper?
Measure their hands rather than choosing by age alone. Children of the same age can need different sizes. Avoid buying gloves with excessive growing room.
Need a hand?
Send us the glove model, the measurements requested by its chart and the size of any gloves you currently wear. We’ll help you find a suitable starting size.
